I am a contemporary slipware potter: my work lies in the tradition of English slipware, but I like to use Porcelain clay for its lovely translucent quality. The techniques used are the same, but in order to bring out the quality of the porcelain, the process used is quite different.
My work is thrown on the potters wheel and individually decorated, focusing on functional domestic ware. When making my glazes, I aim for soft, natural colours reminiscent of a cottage garden. Patterns vary from grasses to lavender and roses and pieces are designed to be mixed and matched.
I teach Adult Education ceramics at Hills Road 6th Form College, Cambridge.
I also teach workshops from my studio in Cambridge, Uk - see classes page for details and booking.
